Privacy Policy

Matrix Productions ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Spectrix application for macOS (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Spectrix does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data whatsoever. Specifically:

2. Microphone Access

Spectrix requires access to your Mac's microphone (or connected audio input device) to perform real-time audio analysis. This access is governed by the macOS permission system. You will be prompted by macOS to grant microphone permission when you first launch the App. You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.

Audio captured via the microphone is processed entirely in memory for the purpose of frequency analysis. It is never recorded to disk, transmitted over a network, or retained after the analysis window has passed.

3. Data Storage

The App may store user preferences (such as smoothing settings, gain levels, and window size) locally on your device using macOS UserDefaults. This data remains entirely on your device, is not personally identifiable, and is never transmitted externally.

4. Third-Party Services

Spectrix does not integrate with, connect to, or share data with any third-party services, APIs, or platforms. The App uses only Apple system frameworks (AVFoundation, Accelerate, CoreAudio) and contains no third-party code or dependencies.

5. Children's Privacy

Spectrix does not collect any personal data from any user, including children under the age of 13. The App is safe for use by individuals of all ages.

6. Mac App Store

If you purchase or download Spectrix through the Mac App Store, Apple may collect information as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to any purchase or download data beyond aggregate sales figures provided by Apple.

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

As we do not collect, process, or store any personal data, the data subject rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 — including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — are not applicable in the context of the App. There is simply no personal data to exercise these rights over.

Should this ever change, we will update this policy accordingly and ensure full compliance with all applicable data protection legislation.

8. Data Controller

For the purposes of applicable data protection law, the data controller is:
